Joan Meaders, a native of Tottenville, was a contestant at the Fred Astaire World Dance Championships held a The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas earlier this summer. Ms. Meaders, pictured here with her instructor Kelly Gilmore (director of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in South Beach,) garnered First place awards in all of the twelve dance categories in which she was entered.
